The International Conference on Recent Trends in Materials Science and Technology 2018 (ICMST-2018) is being organized by IIST, jointly with Materials Research Society of India (MRSI), Thiruvananthapuram Chapter on October 10-12, 2018 at Veli, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. The ICMST was first conducted in 2010 jointly by IIST and MRSI and was a huge success. IIST is a deemed to be University pursuing research activities in materials for various applications including energy storage, sensors, structural, aerospace, thermal protection, etc. MRSI is an interdisciplinary society established to promote research activities in the field of materials science and technology.

          The state of Kerala, with its treasure-chest of beach sand rich in rare-earth minerals, is in the forefront of mining and allied activities of Titanium and other rare-earth elements. In the current international scenario of advancements in the areas of planetary space explorations, automobiles, aerospace and industries, the main focus is on the processing and development of new materials, which can meet the challenges posed by the designers and engineers. This international conference is organized to give impetus to basic research and development and to spread the salient features of the research pursuits in force throughout the world.

         Experts from around the world will be sharing their experiences during this conference. It is aimed at bringing together the researchers, academicians, technologists and industrialists working in the relevant fields onto a common platform for the exchange of ideas and information on the latest developments and evolving  collective strategies towards meeting the future requirements of advanced materials for a better and greener earth
